Time Traveler: Sketch Comedy, Combat, and Movement | July 13-17
Buckle up — we're jumping through time! From ancient gladiatorial arenas to the comedy clubs of the 20th century, we'll explore the stories, styles, and physical language of performers across the ages.
The morning session will be focused on sketch comedy with Haley Roberts. We'll explore:
The history and structure of sketch comedy — what makes a scene funny, and how do we build to a punchline?
Writing and performing our own original sketches inspired by characters and moments from across time.
The afternoon session will be focused on movement and stage combat with Jeremy West. We'll explore:
Physical storytelling — how the body communicates character, status, and emotion.
Stage combat fundamentals: how to make a fight scene look thrilling and keep everyone safe.
