Acting for Film | Adults | Winter/Spring 2026

$100.00 every month for 4 months

This two-part Acting for Film course in partnership with Deep Structure Productions is designed to build practical, on-camera skills over two six-week sessions. Each student will leave with an edited reel of their work.

Session One focuses on the fundamentals of film acting and on-set technique. Students will explore how acting for the camera differs from stage performance while working hands-on with professional cameras, lighting, and sound. Topics include slating and auditioning on camera, hitting marks, finding light, managing eyelines, maintaining consistency across multiple takes, and adjusting voice and physicality for the microphone. Emphasis is placed on understanding the actor’s role within a film crew and working efficiently and collaboratively on set.

Session Two centers on on-camera scene study. Students will be assigned scene partners and scripts and will rehearse and film scenes throughout the session. Building on the technical foundation from Part One, this section emphasizes applying film acting techniques in longer-form work, collaborating with scene partners, and sustaining performance across multiple takes. Students will leave with increased confidence performing on camera and an edited demo reel.

Please note: This class is designed for a small group to ensure adequate time in front of the camera. We require a minimum of 6 students to run the class and cap enrollment at 6 students. All equipment is provided.

  • Instructor: Zach Laliberte

  • Mondays from 6:45-7:45 p.m.

  • Winter/Spring Term: January 12-April 6 (No class March 30)

  • Session one meets in the SLTE blackbox theatre (6 sessions)

  • Session two meets at the Staunton Innovation Hub (6 sessions)
